Topics:

*The biggest misunderstanding

*The difficult decision

Yesterday, we read the short story “A Teacher’s Rewards”.

Things to look at….

  1.  What are some of the ideas about school life that the author is asking us to consider?
  2. A motif in literature is a recurring image or idea that runs through a piece of writing.  In this story, the motif of ‘hands’ is ever-present.  Look at he story again and note how many times ‘hands’ occurs.
  3. “For once, he finished something.” The story ends there, but Ms. Scofields life may not. What do you think happened to Ms. Scofield?  What are three possible outcomes?
