Blog Log | The addiction of videogames

https://www.theguardian.com/theobserver/2010/mar/21/tom-bissell-video-game-cocaine-addict

The thing that really interested me about this article was the fact that I played videogames quite a bit, so I wanted to see what this was about. Since i play videogames a lot this title really intrigued me. I really liked his use of words throughout the article, you could tell that he knew what he was talking about and that he has been playing videogames for a long time. I also really like the detail he put in the article, how explained his whole life in the article. Also, how videogames affected it and how he portrayed his life after he started getting addicted to videogames which lead to other addictions. The connection between this article and my life is that I play videogames, and I have played the games he has played, so I know what he is talking about and the certain language he uses. The article illustrates how video games ruined his life, how it made him lazy and addicted to drugs, indicating how it ruined his life.

Fahrenheit 451 – Radio

For this project we were supposed to create a podcast that is 7-8 minutes long. In this podcast we discuss a major topic in the novel we read called “Fahrenheit 451”, discuss information we have discussed in class and information on the topic we researched. We needed to provide 5 examples form the novel that relate to your topic and 5 pieces of information that we researched on our own that fit the topic. For this project I was partnered up with Deshawn, what I did to contribute tot he project is found 2 examples from the novel that relate to our topic, found 3 pieces of information from the internet that support our topic, I also typed the script and came up with ideas with Deshawn on what to write.

How Does Technology Affect Teens?

marijuana legalization

why it should be legal

I think marijuana should be legal. the main reason why I think this is because, people are going to use it no matter  what, but its better for them to get it from a trusted shop than some dealer that has no idea what is in it, with it being legal you can go into a store and get weed you know wont kill you and is laced with other drugs. also Marijuana is legal in some form in close to half the states in the U.S. and a majority of the country supports legalization, also legalization could lead to billions of dollars in tax revenue so the government would make loads of money, states with legalization are doing just fine, the link between legalization and more pot use is inconclusive, legalization also helps us better understand marijuana’s health effects, No one has ever died of a marijuana overdose, Around 40% of Americans have already admitted to using marijuana. One of the biggest and most widespread arguments from marijuana detractors is that smoking marijuana will lead to using other drugs. As scientific American points out, the studies that show people who use marijuana first before trying other drugs is correlation and not causation. People who go on to use harder drugs also tend to smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol before trying the other substances plus with our current stigma on pot only people who are predisposed to being a “outlaw drug user” are going to smoke pot. On top of all of this, as mentioned above, nearly half the country has already tried pot which is much much more than the percentage of Americans who are left handed.

why it shouldn’t be legal

Smoking any substance will have a negative and potentially life-threatening effect on your respiratory health. Marijuana use can affect a person’s memory, IQ, judgment, and problem-solving skills. There are many cases, linking the use of marijuana to the increased chance of forming a mental illness, although there is little scientific evidence to prove this. Marijuana use, like the use of alcohol, can cause impairment in the user. This means if a person is driving whilst under the influence, they may be more prone to having a collision and potentially harming a pedestrian or fellow road user. There is also a chance that marijuana use during work will reduce your ability to perform your job efficiently, which can be potentially dangerous for certain professions. legalization may increase its abuse. The most widely used drugs in society are legal ones. Alcohol is perhaps the most common, with cigarettes being a close second, marijuana being the third most widely used recreational drug. The legalization of cannabis will lead to a rise in its use and consumption because it is more accessible. Besides, the price of marijuana is dropping.

My Health Goals

In my life I want to improve my academic health, my mental health and my physical health. To improve my academic health, I am going to try, and study more and just try more in school, and get better grades on tests, work sheets and assignments. To improve my mental health, I will spend more time with myself to connect with myself more and spend more time around positive and kind people and spend more time with my family and less time just on my phone or watching Netflix. To improve my physical health, I will play more basketball and other sports outside my house or at a nearby park. I feel like all of these will really improve my overall health and make me happier as a person.

Whats In My Junk Food?

The big mac consists of two 1.6 oz (45.4 g) beef patties, special sauce which is actually a variant of Thousand Island dressing, iceberg lettuce, American cheese, pickles, and onions, served in a three-part sesame seed bun. it has a delicous flavour but is very high in calories and fat. i like the big mac because it is very delicous and is low in cost, making it easy to get with left over change. the big mac is very unhealthy because it has a high amount of calories (563) and high amounts of fat (33g) it is also not super filling which makes it so you want to eat more.

Chili Cook-Off Reflection

the chili cook off lab was a really fun lab, i really liked how we could pick our own recipe to make. i also like how it was a competition to give us motivation to try our hardest. the recipe our group chose was simple but delicous with multiple flavours and it didnt take long to make, our group ended up winning the competition which was super cool.

i enjoyed this lab because i have never actully made chili and it is delicous but is also pretty healthy depending on what you put in it. my group used lots of ingredients that most other groups didnt use like the cream corn and turkey bacon and it ended out tasting great.

my groups final product turned out great, it looked and tasted amazing. we were verry happy with it and our creative recipe definatly helped.

our group worked very well together and nothing went wrong. everyone stayed on task and we made sure everyone was on task and that for sure helped us win the contest.

i would definatly do this lab again and wouldnt really change anything, maybe add a bit more turkey bacon but thats it because it tasted great and was pretty healthy

May Lab Reflection

my favorite may dish we made was the california rolls. i chose this because it was delicous, unique, fun and a cool experience. I enjoyed the lab for the same reasons. My groups product turned out great and my unknown skill of rolling it up definatly helped. our group worked well together and nothing went wrong . i would definatly do this lab again at home but i would add more crab for more flavour.

march/april foods lab reflection

i chose the chocolate fondue because it was my favorite lab out of the march and april labs, it was my favorite lab because it tasted pretty good and it was a cool thing to know how to make and i dont think alot of people actually know how to make it. i did enjoy this lab because it was cool to make and very interesting, it also didnt tae many ingredients to make and you can make it relatively fast. our group worked pretty well together, we did burn the chocolate fondue a little bit but it still didnt taste bad. if i were to do this lab again i would cook the fondue more carefully and not burn it and also i would bring more fruits to dip into it because i ended up only using like half of the fondue.
