Good Morning!

Hey everyone…sorry I’m not there today…as I’m not there today, I am changing things up so that I can be there more so when we get into some of our poems.  For this reason, we are starting with “No Red Ink” on a Tuesday instead of Wednesday!

*No Red Ink:  Connecting clauses with semicolons and colons, commas for clarity and parallel structure (20-30 minutes)

—————————————————————————————————————-

*How is the analysis of our songs going? (20 minutes or so to hopefully finish up!)

*Analyzing Poetry:  Choose an appropriate song –one that you connect with.  You will analyze your song following the steps in the “Analyzing Poetry” resource.

a)  Find a ‘school appropriate’ song.

b) Copy/paste the lyrics to your song to a Word Doc.

c) Go through your song following ‘Analyzing Poetry’ resource.

d) If you see a poetic device, highlight and label on your lyrics.

e) watch the music video; is there anything that this adds/detracts from the meaning of your song?

Poetic devices Practice:  here is a worksheet to work on to practice identifying some of our devices.
