Today we are going to explore why we do land acknowledgments and you will create your own.

REASONS TO CREATE A LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT / STATEMENT OF RECONCILIATION
1. To acknowledge
Indigenous histories;
2. To acknowledge that Indigenous Peoples were here first;
3. To acknowledge that
there were Nation-to-Nation
agreements;
4. To acknowledge that these
agreements led to treaties;
5. To acknowledge that it is
because of these treaties that we
have a country called Canada.

First let’s look at 500 years of the history of colonization of Canada in 2 minutes:
