Inquiry “Harrison Bergeron”

How does one learn to accept others?qweqwe

Will the H-G ever learn to accept the fact that everyone is different and nobody can change that, not even with the help of the most advanced technology? The only way you learn something is by practising. Before creating the 211th, 212th and 213th Amendments to the Constitution, before society made any final decisions about equality, they should have answered the question “Is it possible for everyone to be equal”. Now, the book does not tell us who made the final decision. Maybe it was the people and the government had to go with what the people wanted or the government saw that people were not happy and wanted to make a change. That is for the reader to figure out. “The year was 2081, and everybody was finally equal…they were equal in every which way” (58) Finally, some people were happy, they got exactly what they always wanted, but not everyone. Finally everyone accepts each other, or so it appears. The government in Harrison Bergeron does not accept some people, like Harrison because they don’t want others to change what they already have. The H-G kills those who want that change. Learning to accept others is a hard thing to do especially if the H-G is one that hates changing their opinions for others, maybe even impossible. A way one learns is by practising; with practice comes perfect. Realizing is the key word here. Once one realizes that everyone is different, they can got on from there. One needs to put into consideration that killing should never be the answer. If not everybody agrees with the way they are living, the H-G has to recognize that there must be something wrong with how the system is running. Look for the positive in people.  Not accepting others can be a result of seeing the negative in them.

I have included the picture shows a man saying “It’s okay if you have Bieber, fever Timmy”. The picture shows that the man accepts the fact that Timmy has Bieber fever. All the daughters in my past generations are lawyers. That being said, my parents expect me to be a lawyer as well. But I don’t want to be. I want to be something different. I told my parents that, they didn’t agree with it at first but they slowly learned to accept the fact that I would like to be something different. They realized that if one doesn’t want to be something, they are not going to become it.
