[Math10] What I learned this week (Dec 2th)

This week, I learned how to discover the Domain and Range of a Graph! Here’s how:

Example 1:

First, to find the Domain of this graph, the domain is basically the input values of the graph! We need to look at the x coordinates and find the values! Once we find the Values we write them down like this:

D: {-3, -1, 1, 3}

To find the Range of this graph is the output values or the y coordinates! We write them down as this:

R: {2, 0, 1, -2}

We have now found the Domain and Range of this graph!

Example 2:

A question like this may look complicated at first but it’s super simple! We will be doing something very different in this one!

First thing we know is that the two arrows means the line is infinite! Because of this, we know that the horizontal (x) axis is infinite! Which is the Domain, we write it as this:

D: {xER}

To cover a bit of terminology, the E means that the number is infinite and the R means that the number is also real!

You may thing the Range is also the same but it’s not because the line doesn’t continue all of the way across the y axis! It stops at position 1.5 on the graph! But everything under it is still infinite, we write it as this:

R: {y <= 1.5, yER}

It means that everything under or equal to 1.5 is the veritcal (y) cordinate!

We have now found the Domain and Range of this graph!
