This week, I learned all about functions and how to put input values through them! Here’s how:
Example 1: f(x) = 3x + 2 (Evaluate f(4))
Basically what this means is that we are using the function 3x + 2 and x = 2! f(x) is the value we are getting using this function! We can times 3 by 4 then add 2! Enter in your Calculator 3(2) + 2 and we have found the answer which is 14!
Example 2: f(x) = – 5 (Solve the equation f(x) = 4)
This is a bit different! We already have the Answer which is 4 but we need to find the value of ! To do this, we need to find a number that’s squared value subtracts by 5 to 4! We can find this by doing the opposite of the function by adding 5 & 4 which will give us 9! The squared number of 9 is 3 meaning that = 3
