  • Of Mice and Men was published in 1937.
  • Steinbeck grew up in Salinas, California.
  • The Great Depression was the worst economic crash in the history of the industrialized world, lasting for 10 years– 1929 to 1939. It began after the stock market crash of October 1929 ( Black Tuesday) which sent Wall Street into a panic and wiped out millions of investors.
