Week 8 in Math 10

This week we learned about trig we learned SOH CAH TOA which is sine, opposite, hypotenuse-cosine, adjacent, hypotenuse-tangent, opposite, adjacent. these ratios help you find the missing sides of a right triangle and also help you find the degrees of a right triangle. one thing I had trouble with was identifying which number was the base, height or hypotenuse, in word problems is where I had the most trouble, because if you put the number in the wrong spot your whole answer could be wrong. I learned to look for key words like length, tall, elevation and depression. solving was also a little difficult because you’re given information and essentially have to find answers with what you’re given and there are steps you must take to find everything. To find the sides and angles you must use one of the ratios but if you are given two of the sides and only need to find one you can use Pythagoras, for the angles if your are given a reference angle or have figured out a reference angle you can subtract the reference angle by 90 to get the other reference angle because they should both add up to 90 degrees.

For Example to solve you have to find EF before solving EG or DE or DF. you are only giving a certain amount of information to solve and find everything else, and reference angles are given so you can subtract by 90 to get the other reference angles.
