How may digital footprint affects my future opportunities? Sources: Rawpexel
The digital footprint may affects my future in many ways, either in a positive or a negative way. It can affects me going to university or getting a job. Usually Employers will look at my social media to consider if they should hire me or not. Or when I am applying for university, college admission counsellor wouldn’t want to accept a student who use “iloveeatinghotdog@gmail.com” as their school email.
Digital footprint allows me to show my work which could give me more opportunities. For people who sometimes might not have enough confidence with themselves would feel more protected behind the screen, a blog like Edublog would help them be themselves. It also allows me to try different things to find what I am passionate about. But if I don’t use it properly it could leads me to troubles since everything I do are recorded.
Three strategies that I use to keep my digital footprint appropriate and safe.
– ᴛʜɪɴᴋ ʙᴇғᴏʀᴇ ɪ ᴅᴏ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ
Think carefully before you post or comments anything. People think they can do whatever they want online. Every thing you do is recored, like if you spill a cup of water, the water will never go back to the cup. Same as the internet, yes it is very convenience but once you post or comment something, you could never delete it permanently. Is your word going to hurt anybody? Treated other like how you would want to be treated, if you don’t want someone to do or say something to you then don’t do it.

You never know what you will do when you are angry. Do not post argument on social media, you can never take them back. Your word might hurt someone, it is too late when you regret it later. Even though you think you wouldn’t regret it, but what about people around you? What will they think? Is this going to create a bad image of you? Is it worth it? What you post could reflects your personalities.

Never put your personal information online, like your full name or birth. Keep your social media account private so you can only let people you know see your account. It is important to keep your personal information safe since you will never know what people will do with you informations.

What information I learned that I can past on to other? How would I go about telling them? Sources: Fox
I learned that everyone have a digital footprint since they were born, which I never noticed. Digital footprint can never be delete so it is important to keep in mine of what we are doing and make decision wisely. Make your digital footprint like how you would want the world to view you. We can do whatever we want but remember, but there will be a price of what we have done.
I will share the digital footprint video to my families and friends, ask them to read this article. I will tell them to think every time before they post or comment anything and what they do online can have a huge impact to their future.
