Spoken Word – My Passion Is Lost in The Maze

So, what do you be when you grow up?

As a student, people always ask me, what do you what to study at university?

For real, the number of times I’ve received this question

is greater than the number of fish in the ocean.

What do you what to study at university?

Of course some might be asking out of pure curiosity.

But there is a greater possibility,

that they are asking about your future in society.

It is the standard assumption

that you have a destined passion

and that your mission

is to find its location

and achieve it to the exclusion

of everything else.

When you’ve done that,

you’ll find the instructions that fit every piece of the puzzle,

and the ultimate answer to all the unsettled.

How will you answer?

A doctor, lawyer, or yet to be discovered?

Fortunately for me,

I’m at the age that is still learning about trigonometry.

However,

if you are someone who already understands the whole universe’s history,

congratulations;

you are expected to build a rocket that you love

and that is big enough for you.

If you can’t find a rocket that you want to keep,

it must’ve been because you discovered a better, higher-quality spaceship

that can carry you and your family on a space trip.

For those who don’t have any,

you have failed the homework of life like many.

This is what I have been taught since I was a child.

“Follow your dream”

is just one of the millions of fairytale stories.

I can’t even see my shadow,

as if I’ve been sucked into a black hole.

All the light is swallowed,

yet I was told

to find a way out of that endless tunnel.

Where I was left alone with my thoughts,

where only doubt and uncertainty will visit me.

Days came, left, and came,

without bringing any dawn again.

All I did was stand there,

thought, tomorrow maybe,

the sun will rise as ordinary.

Now that I know,

it is okay if dawn doesn’t come for me in the epilogue,

because I will search for whatever is behind the fog.

The sky is bright after all,

the moon and stars are still by my side.

Even if everyone releases their balloons at the same time,

each one will rise at a different pace.

But this is not a race.

You don’t have to chase.

You won’t be displaced.

It is just that some balloons contain nitrogen,

while others may contain helium or oxygen.

So, before I find the destination I am looking for,

I will board different trains

until I reach where I appertained.

Remember that we are not limited to one single location.

Someday, when you stay in a place for long enough,

you may pick up your suitcase again,

step on another train,

change to another lane,

head for another day,

but don’t forget to enjoy the scenery along the way.
