This course introduces students to the fundamentals of bicycle maintenance and repair. Students will learn how bikes work and how to properly service, maintain, rebuild, and ride bicycles. All bikes from downhill mountain bikes to road bikes to tricycles are worked on in this course. Students will also learn road safety and riding skills with weekly field trips. No previous experience necessary! You don’t even have to have your own bicycle. Students work and learn with their own bicycles or school bicycles that will be donated to local charities.
Are you interested in architecture, design, or engineering, or even the medical field? The process of design is used in many careers! Come find ways you can use this information in your future. In Drafting & Design Animation 10, we look at how the process of design works and how it is implemented from a designer’s perspective. You will learn how to create, build, design and prototype. Learn how to use industry standard equipment like 3D printers, CNC machines, laser engravers, VR immersion, and much more!
This is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) course where students will learn to use Computer Augmented Design and Computer Augmented Manufacturing. Using a variety of resources and software, including CAD and CAM Apps, 3D Printing, CNC Manufacturing, Micro: Bit, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi Development boards. Students will complete a series of projects to learn the fundamentals of circuits and block-based and/or scripted programming to design and manufacture robots to solve tasks.
Content Areas: Electrical theory, production of circuits, electric diagnostic testing, CAD (Computer Aided Design), CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture), robot design, robot elements programming platforms.
This course will help students understand how power is related to energy and motion. Students will learn and develop a skill set for hands-on processes while designing and building. Some of the topics covered in this course include flight technology, simple and complex machines, alternate sources of fuel and power, metalwork and fabrication, welding, and small engines. Students will learn how things work, how they’re made, and how to create their own products.
Have you ever wondered what you were going to do with the rest of your life? Not sure where to even start? How about exploring some options in this fun filled hands on course. Here you’ll skim the surface of four major areas in the hope of discovering some of your passions. Explore Drafting and Design Animation; hovercrafts, rockets and robotic arms in Power Tech; or try Woodworking with the laser engraver and a ton of wood; maybe try your hand with Electronics and Robotics. The journeys not over until you’ve tested yourself against the inventor. This is your chance to challenge yourself, sample multiple courses, and have a little fun at the same time.
This introductory course teaches you the basics of woodwork and design. Our projects are designed for you to succeed. In the process of building each project you will develop skills and experience using machinery and hand tools. We will also provide you with experience using modern machinery such as CNC machines. Once you have a good understanding of these skills you will be given the time to design your own item and build it.
