Praise Song for the Day

Doing their tasks and accepting the fact that they had to do things that they didn’t wanted to do, and they are clinging to the idea that hope is coming. The hope is that Obama will help build that bridge to a better future. This statement is present within the poem as it displays evidence of how one works through life to create its journey towards a better life for them and others. Examples of this in the poem are shown by how the people believe that there will be an end of this hard work and that, “I know there’s something better down the road” (Line 22). Hope is created by how individuals look beyond their struggles and see that everyone involved has made some sort of impact. They worked hard to see an outcome stating, “We cross dirt roads and highways that mark the will of some one and then others, who said I need to see what’s on the other side” (Lines 19-21). They believe that a bright future starts with a capable person who can change and make it strong. Time is a thing that involves growing and healing. One can notice this and one cannot, it just depends on how the world around you is forming. A person must put in the work to be received with something they are proud of, or something they are rewarded with. Everyone puts in the work to benefit them and the society shown by “Someone is stitching up a hem, darning a hole in a uniform, patching a tire, repairing the things in need of repair” (Line 10-12). Another example shown for how they worked for the country through tasks that were a struggle to them was how, “many have died for this day. Sing the names of the dead who brought us here, who laid the train tracks, raised the bridges” (Line 24-26). People who have hope for a bright future work harder for their country and the people involved within it.
