3D Art 12

week 1

September 7,2022

Today we are starting with edublog tests.

week 2

September 12th, 2022

What would you like to investigate/make as a term-long project?

I would like to make either a candle holder, ring dish, or a bowl

What do you need to get started?

the purpose of my project is to make a bowl/ dish. I want to make this because I want to learn how to use the wheel and more wheel word. others have made bowls which is the same idea but with the turtle features.

How will you begin the project?

some challenges I might face to meet my goal could be not making the bowl properly and it falling apart of not being symmetrical, or not being able to use the wheel properly and it not turning out. I can solve them by  asking for help especially for my first time using the wheel I would need guidance, I could also watch videos to learn some techniques.

Self-Assessment and Reflection

my goal for this week was to test edublog and make test post. my challenge was creating a new tab for art. I adapted to this challenge by following the correct steps and asking the people around me. my goal for next week is learning vocabulary and starting/ finishing my sgrafitto tile.

week 3- September- 23rd

My goal for this week was to finish my tile completely with it glazed and went in the kiln and was fired. Some challenges that I faced this week was that my tile got broken by someone else piece exploding near mine, I adapted to this challenge by by being able to get the pieces and glue them together also integrated the broken cracks on it with my art piece, by adding glitter and glue. My goal for next week is to start my coil pot and maybe have it gone through the first tile.

Week four September 30th

My goal was to completely finish my sgarfitto tile and have it all glued together and then start my coil pot, challenges that I faced was that my tile did break and there was a hole in the centre of my tile and had to make a way for it to look good, I adapted by adding glitter to it to draw away for the fact that it had a hole in the centre, my goal for next week is to have made progress on my coil pot

Week five October third

My goal for this week was to make progress on my coil pot and for some of the structure to be made, some challenges that I faced was that every time I would make a ball and slip and score it, it still would fall off and it took me a while to get them on, I adapted by taking a different approach and blending them more together, my goal for next week is to paint my pot and bisque fire it

Week six October 7th

My goal for this week is to have my pot completely finished but it fell apart and I have to start over as there was no saving my pot and I was forced to restart it which was also my challenge and that took a lot of time

Week seven October 14th

My goal was to finish my pot and have it glazed, some challenges were that it still kept on falling apart which was tough, I adapted by just trying to make it simple. My goal for next week is for it be completely finished

Week eight October 21st

My goal for this week is to have the coil pot finished and glued together because it broke off while in the cone five/ glaze fire, I adapted by fixing and gluing it together and making it work. My goal for next week is to start my life below water project

Week nine 28th

My goal for this week is to start my life below water project which is a turtle and have it partially done so far my challenge is the size of my turtle since it turned out much larger than I thought it would I adapted by letting it be big and just going with it. My goal for next week is the have my turtle painted and fired almost fully completed.

week ten  November 4th

my goal for this week was to make the limbs of the turtle and try to attach them. some of the challenges I faced was that they wouldn’t stick and kept on falling off. I adapted by ccontinueing trying and tried different methods to getting them to stay, my goal for next week is for all the limbs to stay and possible be fired.

week eleven nov. 11th

my goal for this week was to have my turtle fired with all the limbs attached but I did not meet my goal because the arms and legs were much more difficult then I thought attaching them. the challenges I faced was letting my turtle stand without the legs breaking or falling off. I overcame this by firing it separately then using a strong glue to attach it. my goal for next week it to have my turtle painted.

week twelve  nov. 18

I started painting my turtle and I am basically finished painting all of it. some challenges I faced was getting a the correct shade of green. I overcame this by trial and error and kept on mixing paints. my goal for next week is to start my next project .

week 14 dec. 2nd

I finished my inquiry completely. my goal for this week is to start my dragon paper machete project. some challenges were getting the paper machete thick enough to be steady enough for me to cut. I overcame this by drying the wet machete with a blow dryer and adding multiple more layers. my goal for next week is to have it tapped down and start some of the face.

week 15  dec. 9th

I finished some of the face. my goal for this week was to have the face complete which I did I finished the eye brows and some face features but not all and some of the horns.  some challenges were using the tin foil to give it structure. I overcame this by finding the right angle to cut the tin foil. my goal for next week is to have the dragon head completely done.

week 16 dec. 16th

I completed my goal and had the dragon head completed with the taped outline and also the bottom. some challenges I faced was working with the tape. I overcame this by using small strips at a time. my goal for next week is to make the teeth and have them attached.

week 17 jan. 6th

I finished making my teeth out of clay and having them all painted. some challenges I faced were making the teeth the right colour because they kept on looking to bright of a yellow. I overcame these challenges by mixing many colours. my goal for next week is to have the teeth glued and started with the fabric on the dragon.

week 18 jan. 13th

I have all the teeth glued and have all of the fabric glued onto the head and the bottom jaw also on the inside of the mouth, some challenges I faced were getting the fabric around the small teeth and in-between each of the teeth in the cracks. my goal for next week is to have my dragon completely painted with the eyes glued.

week 19 jan. 20th

I have my dragon fully painted with the eyes. some challenges I faced were getting the right colour and textures for my dragon and also painting of the fabric was a little bit hard. I overcame these challenges by taking my time to paint it and getting help. my goal for next week is to have the dragon complete done.

my initial idea was to make a pot, my idea didn’t really change and it stayed the same, what I learned the most from this project was how to shape a pot and use the wheel for most part with some help
life below water-
western painted turtles
some threats for western painted turtles are water pollution. smoother threats are erosion also fragmentation also infilling. some solutions are keeping the waters clean for pollution.also you can keep our waters cleaner and keeping chemicals out of them.

I showed how the turtles were affected by pollution and hazardous things in the water by adding the wounds to the shell. My project was made with clay, acrylic paint and glue. It shows the impacts on turtles and how us as human are endangering and hurting them.
