This week we had learned about absolute values and simplifying radicals. For absolute values we had learned about whatever is in-between the two lines will always be positive.

\mid -8 \mid = 8

To simplify radicals you have to know the root. Either \sqrt [2]{16} or \sqrt [3]{64}

For \sqrt [2]{16}

we know that \sqrt {4} \sqrt {4} =  \sqrt {16}

that then turns to 2*2

which then would = 4

For \sqrt [3]{64}

we know that \sqrt {4} \sqrt {4} \sqrt {4} =\sqrt {64}

then would turn into 2*2*2

which would = 8
