CREATIVE WRITING 12
COURSE CODE:
MCTWR12

Creative Writing 12 is all about discovering your voice and exploring the power of storytelling. You’ll read and experiment with a wide mix of genres, from fantasy and science fiction to memoir, literary fiction, and blended styles. Along the way, you’ll see how writers from global, First Peoples, and Canadian backgrounds use language to shape worlds, express identity, and share lived experiences. You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look at how publishing works, from first draft to final piece, and explore how your own life, interests, and questions can inspire meaningful creative work. Whether you’re building a fictional universe, writing personal narratives, or trying out new forms, you’ll develop the skills to express yourself clearly, creatively, and confidently. By the end of the course, you’ll have a stronger sense of your voice and the tools to tell the stories that matter to you. Note: This course can be used towards your grade 12 courses for postsecondary BUT it does NOT replace English 12 or English First Peoples 12.
