This advanced specialty course offers students the opportunity to participate in COMPETITIVE ROBOTICS (VEX Competition) as a way of developing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skills in a practical and hands-on environment. Students work as members of design teams in a variety of roles to research, build, design, market, program, test and compete with robots. This course will be offered in Period 0/X (7:35 – 8:55 am) with a flexible schedule (i.e. as a full year course, classes will typically meet on alternating days; however, preparation for competitions will require additional time outside of regularly scheduled classes). Students will be required to compete in a minimum of 2 VEX Robotics competitions that are hosted locally in the Lower Mainland.

There is a suggested fee of $300 to cover Team Fees, Competition fees, and Robot Design Requirements beyond the VEX Competition Kits.

Recommended: Students are required to apply and complete an application form. Priority will be given to students who have proven STEAM and collaborative experience. This course is open to all students: FRIM and English Program. Questions? Contact Mr. Shane Ford.
