Open in new tab Reflection: The novel I am reading for this assignment is “1000 Splendid Suns” written by Khaled Hosseini. To represent the main character Mariam, I have created a mind map of her traits and core competencies. This map will show where I hope Mariam will improve on in the story and where her strengths are. For this project I decided to use a program that I was familiar with. Canva was my site of choice because of the vast number of things you can do in this program. The only major problem I had with this program was fitting all the necessary writing into such a confined space. This made my result very cluttered but there was nothing I could do about it. Having to scour the novel to find examples of each competency really let me understand the Mariam. Because I was looking for so many little details, I was able to find flaws in her personality that a quick read through will not reveal to the reader. I realised that I as a reader need to slow down, think, and make sure I understand every last So major things don’t start to fly over my head. I feel quite accomplished that I found so much information in a book that has a very quiet main character.
