house of gold twenty one pilots song analysis

here is my analysis of my song of choice

             “House Of Gold”
twenty one pilots

She asked me, “Son, when I grow old,
Will you buy me a house of gold?
And when your father turns to stone,
Will you take care of me?”She asked me, “Son, when I grow old,
Will you buy me a house of gold?
And when your father turns to stone,
Will you take care of me?”I will make you queen of everything you see,
I’ll put you on the map,
I’ll cure you of disease.Let’s say we up and left this town,
And turned our future upside down.
We’ll make pretend that you and me,
Lived ever after happily. She asked me, “Son, when I grow old,
Will you buy me a house of gold?
And when your father turns to stone,
Will you take care of me?”

I will make you queen of everything you see,
I’ll put you on the map,
I’ll cure you of disease.

Ohhhh…
And since we know that dreams are dead,
And life turns plans up on their head,
I will plan to be a bum,
So I just might become someone.

She asked me, “Son, when I grow old,
Will you buy me a house of gold?
And when your father turns to stone,
Will you take care of me?”

I will make you queen of everything you see,
I’ll put you on the map,
I’ll cure you of disease.

imagery-

some describing words in this song are lyrics of ” will you buy me a house of gold ” describes that when the lady asked him to buy the house and take care of her means in my opinion that she is getting older and she wants someone there for her and when the father turns to stone means when he passes away.

there isn’t any alliteration in this song.

an example of onomatopoeia is “I’ll put you on the map I’ll cure you of disease. ”

a metaphor in this song is the line ” and when your father turns to stone “. Its a metaphor because its referring that when the dad dies he will just turn to stone.

there is no personification in this song.

there is no similes in this song.

some vivid language in this song is the lyrics “I’ll make you queen of everything you see” and ” turned out future upside down” These are examples of vivid  language because its kind of exaggerating what is being said.

why does the poet choose these words?

I think they chose these words because the meaning of a house of gold is saying  that they want something spectacular once the father is gone. It effects the song because some of the words that they chose really impacts and exaggerates the song.

tone and attitude –

some words that describe the feeling of this song is exhilarated, happy and energetic. I chose these words because he wants to kind of make her famous and treat her so much.

some mood changes in the song are “Ohhhh…And since we know that dreams are dead, And life turns plans up on their head, I will plan to be a bum, So I just might become someone.” I think it changes the mood because the beginning of the song was happy and giving to the lady the song is about ( about giving her a house of gold ) and then it says that their dreams are dead now.

I think this song is in between being satirical and thoughtful.

style-

this type of poem/song is a lyric.

there is 8 stanza’s / verses

the rhyme scheme is abab

there is no absence of punctuation

 interpretation-

the song is trying to say that they would do whatever the lady ( assuming its a mother ) wants and will do it no matter what it means for him and his life.

the poem is for a mother because she asks the questions with ” son… ”

the singer is the son of the mother/lady that he is going to treat.

this song to me means that he will do anything for her when shes older and not have her husband with her, and its a thoughtful song in my opinion.
