three strategies to find out if a website is real or fake it two check its backroad information, make sure the info on the website is correct. Secondly take a further look into the website, if links take you to pages that don’t work the website is probably fake. third of all do some research on the information provided to see if it is real.
after going to the riverside home page click the library tab, then press “click here” then chose Ebsco and finally click publications. The publication that I have chosen is: http://web.b.ebscohost.com/ehost/command/detail?sid=659e9da9-7a86-4120-b86c-668654faac64%40sessionmgr103&vid=4&hid=125&bdata=JnNpdGU9ZWhvc3QtbGl2ZQ%3d%3d#jid=68B&db=aph
one thing I learned today was how to use the library websites and how to hook up my laptop to the television located in the library.
we both really enjoyed this poem and found it very entertaining.
In the third stanza it says “Nor is 5; there one today” which makes me think that this event had happened in the past and that the house remains alone and empty to our current day. I think this poem is about a lonely house that remains on a hill, forgotten and deserted. A house that could have once been a home.
The author is the one who is speaking in the poem and possibly one of his past homes. The author is speaking to the readers to inform them about the lonely sunken and forgotten house. The setting is the house on top of the hill.
In this poem there are 6 stanzas containing 3 verses in each except the last one containing 4 verses. The poem is closed and contains lots of repetition in each stanza and at certain times has an ABA rhyme scheme.
there was lots of tone and attitude throughout the poem “the house on the hill”. bleak and shrill, sunken, ruin and decay were some descriptive words the author used to make us experience and feel as if we were looking at the house on the hill. throughout the poem the tone is gloomy and depressing. I think that the meaning of the poem and words is to have respect for things even If they are broken or scary looking because they have a back story. the poem makes readers a little frightened and spooked about the house on the hill.
Bleak: Denotation is of an area of land. Connotation, lacking vegetation and exposed to the elements.
Shrill: Denotation is of a value of sound. Connotation, high-pitched and piercing.
This poem is serious, sad and deep. The poem doesn’t really change throughout the poem, the poem sounds deep and serious the whole time.
we liked the overall assignment and found that it helped our understanding in poetry.
I have enjoyed this project, overall I found this assignment very fun and helpful, it let me get a further understanding on nuclear power plants. I enjoyed doing the assignment with a partner and was happy with the overall model. I think there were some things that we could have improved on as well, for example we could have made it more colourful or clearer if we had more time to complete it. I think that we both did lots of the work but we split up questions and the model. We also probably could have painted the base of the model to make it pop more. other then those few things I really like the outcome and enjoyed this project.
Nuclear 3D Model Questions
1. The first main part is the reactor core. It consists of fuel elements, control rod, coolant, moderator and pressure vessels. The second main part is the reflector. This is placed around the core to reflect some of the neutrons that leak from the cores surface. The third main part is the control rods. This absorbs the neutrons so it can maintain or stop a reaction. Helps shut down the reactor in emergency situations. Free neutrons hit a uranium atom and split it. Nuclear energy starts from splitting of the uranium atom. This is called fission; it generates heat to produce steam which is used by a turbine. Because they do not burn fuel they do not produce greenhouse gas emissions. Which is better for the environment.
2. Dangers: Although nuclear power plants are one of the less harmful energy sources it is still very harmful. When you enrich uranium it harms the environment. If a serious accident occurred large amounts of dangerous radiation which can cause an increased risk of cancer to people that are exposed. It does not emit air pollution, isolates its waste from the environment and does not require a huge amount of land.
3. What are the ethical implications?
Nuclear power plants are defiantly a more efficient way of producing electricity however it can be very harmful to the environment. If the uranium fuel were to leak it could cause many health issues such as loss of breath, illness and death.
4. What are the environmental implications?
Nuclear power plants are one of the cleanest forms of energy as it does not emit air pollution. However, uranium is radioactive so if it leaked it could kill people and animals.
One of my favourite songs is Golden by Ruth B, she is a very inspiring singer and lives in Canada. I feel like this song is affectionate and empowering. she used many essential words that showed meaning and expression, for example, Bold, Bronze, Twisted and Silver. These words described the song and were more noticeable and apparent to me, they showed feeling and emphasized to the song. the song is very glum throughout the beginning explaining about her experiences with bullying but later the tone drastically changes to joyful and explains how she overcame bullying. Throughout the stanza there are sixty-nine stanzas. I feel like she is trying to help by telling us not to give up on yourself and just that everybody makes mistakes sometime but just brush them off and keep going. during this song I noticed that there was also two times I had seen alliteration, for example when she had sung “burn burn burn” and “golden golden gold” these both have the first letter repeated throughout three times and there for it is alliteration. During a verse she sang “I was coal my friend now I’m gold” this simile was comparing gold to coal which are both completely different objects, even though they are both minerals the song is comparing two unlike things. The song was very joyous and happy, she had been bullied but never gave up and became a strong, loving and passionate person. the singer is trying to tell us that you can be successful if you try and if people ever say you’re not good enough, don’t listen to them. the song is written from love, strength and maybe past experiences. I think she had mainly written the poem for her fans and to give others confidence. I hadn’t noticed to much rhyme in the poem but including the whole verse and chorus the pattern was: A, B, B, C, E, B, B, C.
Golden Ruth B
The fire used to burn, all the words used to hurt
But you’re not like us, you are different
I couldn’t see that that was a compliment
‘Cause the last thing I want now is to be you
And the flames don’t feel as hot as they use to
Burn, burn, burn
They used to yell
You thought I was coal
My friend, I’m gold
Can’t you tell?
Burn, burn, burn
They used to yell
You thought I was coal
My friend, I’m gold
Can’t you tell?
‘Cause I’m not weak, I’m not broken I am bold
And the fire you put me through turned me into gold
I’m not done, I’m no loser
Watch me take on my bright future
Tonight I’m no bronze I’m no silver
You’ll be thinking, damn I knew her
But you didn’t
Don’t get it twisted
Out of the ashes you buried me in
I, I am golden
I, I am golden
You tried so hard to break me down
Like a fire-breathing dragon, but I guess I took your crown
You pushed for me to change for you
But I’m so glad that I stayed true to who I am
Burn, burn, burn
They used to yell
You thought I was coal
My friend, I’m gold
Can’t you tell?
Burn, burn, burn
They used to yell
You thought I was coal
My friend, I’m gold
Can’t you tell?
‘Cause I’m not weak, I’m not broken, I am bold
And the fire you put me through turned me into gold
I’m not done, I’m no loser
Watch me take on my bright future
Tonight I’m no bronze I’m no silver
You’ll be thinking, damn I knew her
But you didn’t
Don’t get it twisted
Out of the ashes you buried me in
I, I am golden
I, I am golden
The fire that you tried to burn me with, it made me who I am
All the things that you said I couldn’t do
Guess what, yes I can
The fire that you tried to burn me with, it made me who I am
All the things that you said I couldn’t do
Guess what, Yes I can
‘Cause I’m not weak, I’m not broken I am bold
And the fire you put me through turned me into gold
I’m not done, I’m no loser
Watch me take on my bright future
Tonight I’m no bronze I’m no silver
You’ll be thinking damn I knew her
But you didn’t
Don’t get it twisted
Out of the ashes you buried me in
I, I am golden
I, I am golden, golden, gold
I, I am golden, golden, golden
1. Your digital footprint can effect your future in many ways. if you had ever posted something rude or inappropriate that can offend some people and you afterwards delete it, that doesn’t always mean it was deleted and it can still be roaming the internet somewhere. If you apply for an important job the manager of the company could easily find a photo you tried to hide or thought, you deleted it could offend the manager and you wont get that job possibly. My second reason is if you apply for college and a photo is found by the dean of the school, you might get declined from that college or any other colleges you apply to and if your dream job was to be a lawyer or doctor you wouldn’t be able to become one because of your digital footprint.
2. Three ways you can keep your digital footprint safe is by, being careful about what you post, don’t post anything if you know its bad or offensive. Another way is to not download social media apps, just talk to your friends in person or on text or even on the phone. My final reason is to make your account private so only your friends can view your posts.
3. After learning about my digital footprint I found out many facts that I was unaware of before. I found out that if you delete a photo on the web it is never actually gone and can be surfing the web somewhere. Also if you ever post something inappropriate or offensive it could effect your whole future. What I learned from doing this project is to be careful about what I post.
There are multiple problems that can be solved by apps but one problem in particular that I noticed is that some students that want to test experiments at home to get a better understanding cant because they don’t have some of the ingredients or tools needed. Also some students are better visual learners so if they are just told something they might not understand, and in order for them to understand they need a demonstration but don’t have proper equipment or ingredients. I feel like the best solution to this problem would be an app that lets you digitally interact and do they experiments on your very own device, the app could go through steps and let you put it together and figure out how it works. After I had searched the app store and found an app called “Kids Fun Science Experiments.” There were many categories to do and it also pronounced everything we did and gave an explanation for the science experiment. For example, one experiment I did was putting ice on a string and covered it in salt, that gave me a better understanding on melting points and gave me a bunch of information on the subject. I also saw how to transfer electricity through a car motor. In the app you tap and drag objects and it will tell you instructions on what to do next. One thing I think would make the app better would be a more descriptive explanation that tells us what the overall result is and not just how it happens. Another thing that could improve the app would be making the voice that illustrates what you are doing a little bit clearer because it is very digital and robotic and a little hard to understand. Overall I think the app was easy to use and it was free to download and other then a few changes I would make I find it a great app to help students understanding in science.
