Do you think Joseph Boyden should write stories about the Indigenous people of Canada? Why or why not?
I think Boyden should write stories about the Indigenous people of Canada, as long as he does it respectfully and addresses real issues and topics the Indigenous community is/has faced. Even if he doesn’t have enough or any Indigenous history to be considered Indigenous himself, I think if he writes about the topic in a respectful manner and helps bring awareness, then it isn’t bad. If he makes profit off of it, then he should be honest; I think he should also put some of it towards helping Indigenous people of Canada. His writing may help bring light to Indigenous people and what they have to say; help make their voices louder. If he does decide to write another story about the Indigenous people of Canada, then I think he should talk to “real” Indigenous people of Canada who have experience in order to make his story as accurate and respectful as possible.
