In math class we were all given an orange and our task was to find the formula for the volume of an orange. We had to horizontally cut an orange in half and then we had to hallow out the orange, removing all of the flesh from the inside. We took half of an orange and traced it onto a large piece of paper. After tracing the circumference of the orange, we ripped up pieces of orange peel and placed them in as many of the circles as possible. We successfully filled four circles with the orange peels and so we were able to find out the formula for the orange. The formula of the sphere was 4π r squared. The reason the formula used the number four was because we were able to fill four circles with orange peels.
