The Alberta flag question is good. Not connected to the activities but definitely identity through geography. You could simply ask what geographical features are shown in the flag.
For the Shield/Quebec questions, they don’t seem to be centered around activities that make the identity of the region. Remember that it should be the geography that allows for certain activities which in turn creates identity.
