My Monologue is based on Cheddar’s perspective from the novel “Street Pharm”. It is from the scene when Cheddar and Ty take the Mushrooms before the dance.
Monologue
I’m late again. I hope Ty’s not mad at me. I Better bring the mushrooms before the dance starts. Oh, there’s Ty. Good, he doesn’t look too mad. Should I really be taking these Mushrooms right before the dance? It’ll be fine since Ty is having half. Here I go. I hope it won’t be too bad. Damn it’s strong. Maybe I shouldn’t have taken them. Note to self next time don’t take Shrooms before doing something. It’s ok, all I have to do is act normal enough to get into the dance. Easy enough, I hope. I should’ve saved some mushrooms for Bear and Joe, so I didn’t have to take half of it. Oh well. My head feeling weird. I’m getting dizzy. Stay focused. It’s hard to walk and I don’t know where I’m going. I’ll just follow everyone else. There’s the school. Act cool, act normal. Ty isn’t looking so good, but he’s probably fine. What is Ty doing? Why is he messing around with these girls? Whatever, as long as we get in. Finally, we are at the front. Yes, we made it in. All these flashing lights are making my head hurt. Ty looks really bad. Those mushrooms hit him hard. Oh shoot, Ty just fell. Is he dead? No, thank goodness. We better get him out of here. There’s a pay phone over there. Joe is calling the cops. Well, I guess to help out Ty. We better stay until they come. Come on Ty hang on. I hear sirens. I better get out of here. I don’t want to go to juvy. That way is the fastest way home better head there.
Reflection
I decided to use Cheddar’s perspective because I wanted to show what I thought he was thinking. I picked the Mushroom Incident because it was an eventful scene in the book. They don’t describe Cheddar in dept, so I was able to make him how I thought he would be. I guessed how he would act and look to bring his character to life. It was difficult to make his avatar because they didn’t describe how he looks.
