What would an ethic of care towards the environment look like?

Key Question: What would an ethic of care towards the environment look like?

1. How do you personally define an ethic of care?

I would personally define it as a being passionate and caring about something without the influence of others opinions. It also requires some sort of action because it is care to say you truely care about something without putting an effort to show for that.

2. What would be needed to create an ethic of care?

To create an ethic of care I think one would need to have a formed passion or feeling towards what they care about, have some sort of emotional attachment to what you care about.

3. What would we have to believe about the environment to care for it? How should we see it?

I think we should see it as something that is our responsibility not just something that others who “care about it more” should worry about. We need to know the planet is all our big home. We need to see it as something that can get better, just watching a suck person be sick isn’t going to help them, we need to acknowledge that the person is sick.

4. How would we act if we cared about the environment? – give scenarios

We would try to make a positive difference.

  • do fundraisers
  • volunteer
  • donate
  • plant trees
  • dispose properly

5. What would be different about the world if everyone adopted this ethic of care towards the environment? Benefits and drawbacks?

Benefits:
I believe the benefits would be that our planet would be much more healthy and we would probably not be worried about the earth dying but drawbacks would be that jobs would disappear and money would become a problem.

6. Should we adopt an ethic of care towards the environment?

I believe we should but only for changes that are greatly affecting the environment. Because changing minor things will make people think of it as a minor thing but if we get rid of the big problems then they are gone.
