Delicate Flame

To me,

You are delicate flower

With each petal, slowly falling down

You’re losing your hope.

Your hope that tells you that every little thing will be alright

And that when you’re at the beach all that should matter,

Is the waves crashing on the shore.

To you, I am fire trying to put out fire

With my strong sense of what I think is ‘right’

and my different perspectives,

I am just adding to the flames.

Although fire can kill a flower,

And you may not like the change,

Maybe we can get your lost hope back

And become a delicate flame.

The poet isn’t expressing love specifically in a romantic way but it can also be interpreted like that, the poet is trying to showcase the need for love and trust within people so that everyone can achieve happiness.
