The Metis in the Red River have had their livelihood and culture threatened by the fur trade, European settlement, and transition of ownership from the HBC to the Government of Canada.

To protect themselves as they enter Confederation, the Metis decide to elect a leader/spokeperson by the name of Louis Riel, create a group to represent their interests (National Metis Committee) , devise a List of Rights they want included in the terms of Confederation, and institute a provisional government that will oversee the transition of the land and its people into Canada.

Will these measures ensure the Metis, their ways of life, and their unique culture are protected?
Are these actions allowed?  Or are they acts of treason?
