Math 10 – Week 8

This week in math we started our Polynomials unit. Polynomials is one of the harder units because there are so many number you are having to deal with and it can be easy to forget to change a positive to a negative or a negative to a positive, or combine something to make it into simplest form. With this unit you really need to go slow to remember to follow all the steps. Something that can help a lot for visual learners is to draw out a model of the question, although this does take more time it really does help, then you just need to combine the like terms. When you have a question that uses distributive property it is important to remember that a – x – = +, – x + = -, + x + = + and that if the number being distributes has an exponent it will be added with the other exponents inside the brackets and not multiplied. This is what we have gone over so far.
