INDIGENOUS PODCASTS
The following project was a collaborative project between Mr. Barazzuol’s English 10 students, and Mr. Drysdale’s Art 12 students. The following steps were taken to complete this assignment:

1) Listen to and deconstruct a podcast, CBC’s “Finding Cleo”
2) Learn about indigenous culture in Canada, residential schools and the struggles of present-day First Nations (articles, videos, narratives, Statistics Canada, etc.)
3) Invited Ray Thunderchild (IRSS, elder, Chas Coultee (Social Worker) and Teri Galligos (Aboriginal Education Resource Teacher) to speak to the students
4) Research either a residential school story or missing and murdered indigenous women story
5) Learn how to write outlines for podcasts
6) Met with Art 11/12 students to share inspiration for an album cover
7) Art 11/12 students create album covers
8) English 10 students learnt recording techniques and editing techniques to create a podcast
9) Shared stories to make sure that these stories are heard in order to proceed with reconciliation
10) Create awareness about indigenous culture amongst adolescents!
