What are some things you have learned and/or tasks you have accomplished this semester? What are some things you have been involved with supporting the school? (Use videos, pictures, upload materials etc. as evidence of learning in your blog)

This semester I assisted many of my peers within my classes with tech-related issues and refamiliarized myself with the Cricut when helping a teacher work on his project that involved the Cricut machine. I also presented the tech tips presentation to Ms. Chin and Mr. Ursu’s join STREAM classes.

What aspects of your work are successful? Explain why.

I found my tech help to go very well because the people who I helped were very thankful and were able to properly access important services after my help. The teacher I helped with the Cricut was also able to complete his project on the Cricut. The presentation went well but I had to use lots of presentation skills in order to increase engagement.

What aspects of your work is challenging? Explain why. What steps did you take to overcome these challenges / what adjustments did you need to make?

Presenting in front of the joint STREAM classes proved to be a challenge as many of the participants were disengaged but then I was able to garner attention by providing examples and linking the learning that I was presenting to the classes that Mr. Ursu and Ms. Chin taught to make the lesson more relevant.

Is there anything you can do improve? (with your approach to the project, or altering the project)

I would want to improve how quickly I respond, waiting a bit for the student to try to figure it out themselves and then but worried about the time of the class I stepped in pretty soon. I would also try to make the PowerPoint more engaging looking to make the participants pay more attention. I would make the tips also more entrenched in the lessons so the participants should have to try out certain apps and maybe report back on them.

As Riverside continues to immerse itself into innovation and technology, what do you think Riverside can do to provide support and help for teachers and students? (Provide specific examples)

I believe RIverside should try and maybe make teachers more aware of the Tech Team students in their class so they can rely on their help at times and escalate if that first line doesn’t work. Also having the students know their peers who can help is a major positive as well and they may feel more comfortable with someone in their class that they know better rather than a “random” student in the WAVE or a teacher assisting them.

Do you have any feedback or suggestions, as we move forward, that could help the Tech Team meet the needs of our school and staff / be more effective? (Provide specific examples)

I think having team-targeted meetings would be more beneficial. I feel that often we have large tech team meetings and the itinerary doesn’t apply to everyone that is there, or if it does they are able to provide their answers or feedback online via form or another way. If we had meetings such as the social media one we have for different projects.
