1. How did you figured out what equations to use?

After choosing a certain shape I want to graph in the image, I thought about the general shapes of 10 functions we can use. Before starting to create an equation, I imagined how it would be in my head so I know what I am doing when creating an equation.

2. Did you have any challenges?

Throughout the process of this project, I have faced various challenges that I had to figure out and overcome. First, as I was continuing working on this, I have realized that my image had lots of unique shapes that I found difficult to graph, there were many shapes that were “tilted” so it was hard to use just a quadratic function or a circle, I had to use various different functions together to make the shape which often lead to it having many small, little lines that had pointy intersections.

3. Any aha moments?

I was having trouble with shading inverse functions but after asking questions to teacher helped me realized to use inequality signs directly into the equation.

4. Did you get help?

Yes, I asked lots of questions to the teacher and friends whenever I had troubles. First, I would ask the friends around me and if they can’t figure out, I went to up to the teacher and asked them. I think it was really helpful to ask others and help each other out instead being stuck on something and wasting time.

5. Did you use any strategies?

I think one key strategy I used was using function notations and using similar equations to create new equation. This saved me lots of time instead of typing brand new equation every single time. If things had similar shapes, I just made it as a function notation and began with the equation I used before with just few edits in transformations.

6. How did this assignment help you understand more about transformations of functions and relations?

This assignment helped me understand more about transformations of functions and relations by seeing how the graphs were affected by the transformations I typed in. This project is highly engaged with transformations that after, I was able to figure out what type of functions and what transformations are required to make the shape and I want in the place I want.
