Today in math class, we did a very interesting activity in order to determine the formula of a sphere. First, we took oranges and sliced them in half and then traced the circles onto a large piece of paper.
Then we peeled the haves of the oranges and ripping them into pieces filled the traced circles that we had drawn. Once they were filled with no gaps, white space showing or overlap we counted the number of circles we had filled.We had 4 filled circles which means that the formula for a sphere is the area of a circle times 4.
