Banksy wanted Clacton-on-Sea to confront racism – instead it confronted him | Banksy | The GuardianThese grouchy group of pigeons aim their anger towards the swallow by excluding the bird out, to get the last worm. This is a big sign of not including others. This picture tells a story that the African swallow came to migrate but as he comes the pigeons, who you would think to be on the side of the road eating garbage are now the ones thinking they are the bigger person but once they see a newcomer, they start to get greedy and want to hog everything for themselves. The artist clearly made use of the wall textures showing that on the side of the pigeon its all glossy and clean, no hard bumps. On the side of the swallow the wall is bumpy and rough. That shows that the pigeon’s life may not be hard, and it is a smooth road ahead, but as far as the swallow, he has got some rocky roads ahead of him. The posture of the birds shows who has the power in this picture. The pigeons are tall with their chest open whilst the swallow is scrawnier and looking down and away from them. As you can tell by the signs that the pigeons are trying to shoo him out by saying “go back to Africa”, “Migrants not welcome” and “keep off our worms”. The Swallow is looking back at them thinking he should leave. The colors also play a big role in this as well, by showing that the swallow is a nice colorful bird, and the pigeons are just boring grey birds. The angle shows you the comparison between how much birds there are on the left side and on the right side. The artist did a great job showing what its like to be exclusive.
