Week 2 – Math 10

This week we learned about Exponents. An exponent refers to the number is multiplied by liself. For example, 4 to the 3rd ( written like this 4) means:

4 x 4 x 4 =64.

4 is not the same as 4 x 3 = 12.

1. When an exponent is zero, as in 5 , the expression is always equal to 1.

2. When an exponent is a negative number, the result is always a fraction. In this instance, the numerator is always 1.
