The capital punishment is a harsh punishment towards people who break certain laws, those laws ranging from murders to rape, treason, and child rape. As horrible as the capital punishment Canada did once support these acts. The capital punishment was accepted in Lower and Upper Canada in the year 1865, only for crimes that involved murder, treason and rape. Canada stopped supporting the capital punishment in the year 1976, the capital punishment was removed from Canadian Criminal Code and replaced with life sentences without patrol. In the story, “Two Fishermen” by Morley Callaghan could have been in Canada during 1961 or 1962 due to the lynching and lynching was only done for murder, no other punishment.
Thomas Delaney did not deserve the harsh punishment of the capital punishment. Thomas Delaney was standing up for his wife, killing the man who molested and hurt his wife. Thomas Delaney guilty of murder should not be murdered to show the general public that murder is wrong, legal or not it makes no sense to have Thomas Delaney murdered in public as a punishment for illegally murdering someone. The third and last reason why Thomas Delaney did not deserve to suffer from the capital punishment is because of how horrible and disgusting the capital punishment is. I do not agree with capital punishment and believe that even if they do something horrible murder is the easy way out of it. The murder Thomas Delaney participated in was different than other murders, he did not harm an innocent person, only a person who harmed his wife.
