Two Fishermen Sketch

The character of K. Smith also known as, Smitty in the short story, “Two Fishermen” by Morley Callaghan would be a round character that showed vulnerability throughout the story. Smitty is a character that shows vulnerability to those around him, he is not ashamed of being sensitive but he is not proud either. He opens up easy, he trusts people too fast; be friending Michael so fast even though Michael did not care for him. Smitty is able to care for the people regardless of who they are, “‘Here’s to you, Michael,’ the little man took along pull at the flask,” he was able to show Michael appreciation the moment he met him (Callaghan 3). Although, Smitty is a pleasant person with a loving family. However, Smitty is still somewhat lonely, “‘The only time I take a drink,’… ‘is when I goona fishing trip by myself. I usually go by myself,'” Smitty shows some vulnerability to Michael, bonding with him about how he is by himself a majority of the time (Callaghan 3). Smitty, a character in the short story, “Two Fishermen” by Morley Callaghan, is a vulnerable, pleasant, content, human that trusts those around him too fast.

Thank you for sharing this piece based on this character from the short story “Two Fishermen,” written by Morley Callaghan.

I think that you did the following things quite well:
    – Selected valid quotations as evidence
    – Lead-ins and references are well done

I feel that we could improve on these areas for your next write:
    – Further develop your answer to tell us more about the character

    Thank you,

    Mr. Barazzuol
