Stop the Waste and Make a Change
You wanted to end world hunger,
But you’re doing the same things over and over.
Do you remember that one dinner?
When you said the food was disgusting and bitter,
And you demanded the food be taken away to the waiter,
While knowing it was doomed for the dumpster.
I come to you with a shocking case:
Each year, one third of the world’s food is gone to waste,
While you don’t even know how to appreciate.
World hunger is a real issue.
But you’re wasting food like you don’t know its value.
This is not just another first world problem, don’t just laugh it off.
All the food considered unappealing that the restaurants toss.
And all the good food thrown away, because of the “best before date,” which is thought to be a dross,
Could feed millions of mouths, and end world hunger,
But instead, you choose to be careless and stubborn.
Okay by now you may think I’m being judgmental
and maybe a little hypocritical,
But let’s be honest; between me and you
I’m the one who loves food.
Do you realize that each year 7 million die from starvation?
And that 850 million suffer from malnutrition.
Think about the homeless begging for food.
The babies that cry constantly, while the mom’s plead, not knowing what to do.
And the young children that die too soon.
Let’s stop the waste and make a change.
Here’s a couple things you can try to do…
Be realistic and stop ordering too much food from the menu.
And remember to eat the leftovers too.
Donate what you don’t use.
And donate the gross stuff too.
The farms will make good use.
Check your fridge and preserve produce.
People are dying each day from starvation.
So why not take action?
Maybe show a little appreciation?
We can help the world’s situation.
Our generation can easily change civilization.
