Some ways your digital footprint can affect your future is if you are going for the perfect job opportunity. Let’s say it’s against you and somebody else for this job, well the boss or whoever is in charge of hiring may do a quick or deep search on your history depending on the job. If they find something you did even a few years ago that was rude or disrespectful in any way it could cause you that job. Another example is politics, the 2020 election is coming up soon and someone posted a picture of Justin Trudeau wearing a racist costume for Halloween awhile ago. Currently, he is apologizing for what he did but many people who were his supporters are now very offended and upset, which means he lost a bunch of voters.

A few ways you can keep your Digital Footprint safe and appropriate.

A few ways you can keep your digital footprint safe and appropriate is by making your account private this way you can choose who gets to follow you. Thinking, before you post anything ask yourself, is this gonna hurt my future, is this disrespectful, am I making a smart decision. Don’t say or do anything you wouldn’t do in person, don’t comment things if you know it would hurt you if someone said it about you.

A few things I learned and what I want to share with you.

That even if only you and your friends follow you that they may not have a private account as well, which means they could screenshot your post then either repost it and tag you on it or keep it forever and then one day possibly run your future. I would like everyone to know that you may think that only a few people saw that rude thing you said before deleting it however what you don’t know is that people can still take pictures of that rude thing of other devices. People can also hack into your account and see the things you’ve said in the past. For many people, this has ruined their careers, especially when it comes to elections.
