Week 1 – Pre Calc 11

This week in Pre-Calculus 11 we focused on Arithmetic sequences and series. An Arithmetic Sequence is a pattern of numbers that increase or decrease by the same amount every term.  4,6,8,10,12,14 is an example of a basic increasing arithmetic sequence, each term increases by 2, this is the common difference of the sequence.

In this unit, we’ve learned how to determine the sum of a sequence or series, and how to determine the value of an unknown term. By using a formula, and plugging numbers into it, we can significantly decrease the amount of time needed to complete the problem. Below is an example of determining an unknown term Arithmetic Sequence.

With this method, determining the term can be accomplished much faster and with more accuracy. This formula can be applied to Arithmetic Series and Sequences alike.
