Science 9 Self Reflection

I expected Science 9 to be a lot more difficult than last year because I didn’t do amazing, but after all this, it really wasn’t that bad. This course has taught me quite a bit more about some of the things I had wondered about before. It’s strange how my current Science grade is much better than any of the other grades I’ve got in the previous quarters. I think that this is quite an accomplishment since I’ve never really been that great at science, so I’m proud of myself for that. I’m pretty surprised at how much I know about the Periodic Table now. I never thought that I would have any clue what was going on in the Periodic Table, but now that I figured it out, it turns out that it really isn’t that complicated.

For the future of my Science classes, I hope to have my grades be just as good as it is right now if not better. Since next year will probably not have the quarter system, I should stop procrastinating all the time and actually do my homework instead of leaving it for the last minute before doing it. Even now, I’m still forgetting to do some of my assignments and end up having to rush them and get them in overdue.

I feel that this quarter of my grade 9 school year has been a decently successful one. Although I do not have any electives in this quarter, I think this is one of my more successful ones. Soon enough, I’m going to have to choose which topic of science I have to study so I think I’m going to need to start thinking about that next year. I hope to finish this year strong and to do well next year.

ADL Elemental Infofluency – Plutonium

What questions did you need to research in order to create your sway?
The questions I used to research information for my sway was:
How was Plutonium discovered?
What is Plutonium used for?
Who discovered Plutonium?
What is the melting point/boiling point of Plutonium?
What is the Periodic Table information of Plutonium?

What new or familiar digital tools did you try to use as you worked through this project?
I used Google for the most part but I did try to use CC search for some images and Gale Power search for some additional information. I did notice that sway had a CC image search feature so I decided to use that as my image source. I had to go search up the images’ source for myself because Sway did not provide me with the source of the image.

What was the process you used to investigate the topic?
I started off by collecting information and writing down notes in a Word document. When I felt like I had enough information gathered about Plutonium, I started up Sway and started on the actual project part. It was my first time using Sway so I had to figure out some things before I started. Soon enough, my project was finished up.

How did you verify and cite the information you found?
The way I verified that my information was true is that I go on multiple different sites to on the same topic to check if the information that I been reading was true.

How did the process of completing this challenge go? What could you have done better?
I think that the process of completing this project went pretty well for my first time using Sway. I don’t think it looks the best but I think it is pretty solid for a first time project. There was plenty of information on Plutonium so researching it wasn’t too difficult. I think I could’ve used more of the sources that the instructor provided because that may have gotten me some more trustworthy information and plenty more facts about the element. The current format of my Sway looked like it could use some adjustment so I think I should’ve made it look nicer and more visually appealing.

Community Connections

For my community connection project, I have decided that I interview someone i have common interests as me. The person i decided to interview goes by the name, “Danakas Lin”. I chose to interview him because he had the same interests that i had. My interest was a hobby called playing video games. He had also had this same interest as i did, playing video games, more specifically, we both played this popular video game called “Rogue Lineage”. He was much more skilled than i was, so i thought he could tell me a thing or two about his time as a rogue lineage player. He answered most of the questions i had in heavy detail so i was able to get quite a bit of information about how he started out his career in rogue lineage. Danakas does not wish to be contacted by our fellow students due to personal reasons.

The first question i asked him was, “Why are you passionate about your job or role?”. His role seemed to be an important role. Danakas plays a class in the game called, “Shinobi,” which serves an important role of dealing heavy amounts of damage to the enemy whilst protecting his teamates. He is passionate about his role because he enjoys proving himself to the people who never thought he could be a valuble member of the community. I think that he show alot of passion for what he does for his clan and i also think that he is very brave for doing this, because death in this game is permanant. Whether it be an assassination quest to just a simple escort, Danakas would would his pride, life, joy and soul into his task to achive perfection into what he is doing.

Danakas then told me about his journey to becoming what he is today. He was born into a small, poor family where he was unable to learn the basics of this world known as gaia. His clan at the time were at the same skill level as he was, so he struggled to get the proper education to learn the basics of his journey across this cruel, wretched world. He was made to learn the path of the freezing tundra, filled with howlers and powerful players, he fought his way through the tundra and thus, running into the heirs of the “Sayura” bloodline, those who are part of the clan they call themselves “Sinfull”. After being mauled to death by those Sinfull, he lay in a ditch, waiting for his eternal death, he met his savior, a man who went by the name, “Lord Grit Evo”, the founder of the Evo clan. He was chosen to join the clan of the Evo where he was finally able to recieve the proper training he deserved. The Evo clan was a very powerful group of people who were hardened killers. Danakas with the help of his clan, was able to gain power and was able to defeat his enemies and help out his clan. He was well known in his clan, he went by the name “Solomon Evo”, also known as a healer and as “The Merciless”. Danakas has gone through many near death experiences and encounters to get to where he is today and I think that no matter what you have to go through, you will one day achive greatness.

Some advice he gave me for rogue lineage were very simple yet, effective. From all the days of learning, fighting and grinding his sould out, he must have known alot about the game and helpful tips to ease your way into the world of rogue lineage. He says to never give up, even if it looks like its the end of the road from here. Danakas also say to ignore the negative word people will say to you as the community in this game is not the nicest. People will generally say that you lack skills, or that you will never achive your goal, but no matter what you do, you will one day find yourself to be a very powerful player. Just keep your head up and continue on with your journey andyou too, can become one with power. Prove the people who doubted you wrong and ask your more experienced friends for some advice. The words he wrote here, were once told by the leader of his clan which kept his motivation up to become what he is now.

This question i asked was one i came with myself. The question i asked him was, “what has gotten you interested in Rogue Lineage”. Danakas says that what got him into this game is mainly the unique fighting mechanics of the game. Before he found rogue lineage, he used to only play games that require no skill and barely any effort. When he first started out in the game, the game was incredibly difficult because the game was still fairly new and there wasn’t much informoation known about the game. What kept his motivation up to continue playing the game and finding out more about it was his friends. He always played with his friend because it was more fun to fight as a group and it just kept him going with the advice they gave him, and the joke they told to keep his spirits up when he lost all of his hard earned gear. He also like the game for the feeling of when you are finally maxed out. He says it feels like you have just gotten a huge accomplisment and he just feel very powerful. Perfecting the art of playing a class is also a very exciting feeling as you finally figured out how to play the class you worked your blood, sweat and tears into.

I also had another question to ask him about his adventure in rogue lineage. The question i asked was, “Who did you look up to when you were starting out with your rogue lineage career?”. i thought this was an interesting question because i think that if he enjoyed the things the people he looked up to did, i thought i might be able to learn something from those people too. Danakas had a couple of people that he looked up to when he was an amature player. Some of these people would be someone who made content of rogue lineage on the YouTube platform. One of which was Roy Haru. Danakas admired him because of his immense power, skill and the knowledge of the game. Roy knew every corner of the map and the treacherous tundra. He used these people as an example for what he wanted to be in the future. These people who he looked up to was what gave him motivation and hope for himself and now, he has achieved much than what they have.

Overall, i think that the information that he has provided me during this interview has been very helpful to me as a fellow rogue lineage player. Danakas has taught me alot about his own experiences and handed me some advice i never would’ve thought be useful. I think that he had to have worked very hard training himself by fighting other people to become as skilled as he is today. A fun fact is that I was good friends with him in the past and I was actually the first person to introduce him to rogue lineage. I didn’t know much at the time either so we figured it out together and have now achieved our desired goals. Though he is more skilled than me now, I never would’ve thought that I would be recieving the best advice from him.

Duncan Tells Vinny About The Journal

in this video, Vinny talks about how Duncan told him about the journal of a creep whos following and planning on killing people.

My character: Vinny

Today, Duncan, Wayne, and I were at the library. I’m not sure what Wayne was doing on the computer; I think he was looking up some nasty things on there. Me and Duncan were looking at some books when Duncan asks me what I would do if I knew that somebody was going to get killed. He also asked me what I found do if I found that person’s plans and what they were doing, or about to do. Naturally, I would say that I would turn the book into the police, but Duncan said that what if you could not go to the police because they wouldn’t believe him. I’m thinking that Duncan was acting a little weird so I just give up and ask him what he would do. He said that he would try and catch the killer by himself. Now I think he is going a little crazy because I don’t think that trying to catch a killer by yourself is the brightest idea. I’m not sure why he would be asking these questions anyway, maybe it was something in his book he was reading, I don’t know. Soon after I was done answering all of Duncan’s questions about a killer, he shows me some pictures of a dead cat hanging onto a chain. I freaked out a little bit on the inside because I’m not into whatever he’s up to. What’s going on with Duncan? Maybe the pictures are from his book, I think that he may be reading one of those true crime books. Then after he showed me the pictures, he tells me that those pictures were from a journal of an insane person that he found in the lost and found he worked at. So that’s why he has been asking me all of those weird questions earlier. I told him that he should definitely turn in the book to the police, but he said that they wouldn’t believe him. I told him about graphology and how they can figure out how it isn’t you that wrote the book. I definitely think that Duncan is going a little crazy over this diary he found, I’m pretty sure that there is no way that he can actually save those girls from the killer. If he doesn’t turn that book in now, it could be too late to do so. I guess I finally got him to crack and he has finally decided to turn the book into the police.

REFLECTION

I picked the character “Vinny” because I think that he has some pretty interesting features about himself. One of which would be his deformed are. Sure people would make fun of it but it’s an interesting part about him. The scene I chose for my project is when Vinny gets told about the “Roach’s” journal. I chose this scene because I think that this scene seems to be a very important one because Vinny is the first person Duncan decided to tell the journal about, thus, possibly making Vinny have an important role in finding the Roach. I had a little bit of trouble with the Blabberize website with the mouth placement and I think I have just realized how to do it now, but I think it’s a little too late to do so. To make it sound like Vinny is really talking, I adjusted my voice and tone to sound like what he would be like when he is thinking or talking to himself about what just happened.

fn10waste

Most of the food I eat come in all sorts of packaging such as plastic packaging, cardboard boxes and plastic bags. I think they were packaged like that because the company the made the product wanted their product to look appealing to the customer. The plastic packaging and plastic bags aren’t very good for the consumer because the plastic just becomes garbage and they usually throw out the packages. On the other hand, the plastic bags can be reused as garbage bags for your bins. The carboard boxes can just be recycled but you can also use them as storage if they are large enough. If you just trash your packages, they will probably just end up in a landfill where they with stay there for hundreds or thousands of years. But on the bright side, the food waste will just decompose into the ground and will just be used as fertilizer. We can create less waste if we avoid buying things with plastic packaging as much as possible or we just don’t waste too much food and only buy what you need. Another suggestion could be to use the waste to your advantage and make some nifty crafts with them.
