What went wrong with today’s lab? List all the variables that disturbed our results and create a solution to make the outcome more accurate.
In today’s lab each person in our group had different paces in which they were going for each of the waves. Some people were taking bigger steps than others which made different results from each person. Overall we all had a different speed of doing each wave.
Why do you need more than one seismometer station to find the epicenter of an earthquake? Why is one not enough?
We need more than one seismometer station because there might be different ratings from spots of the earthquake. Different sections of an earthquake will give you different ratings.
Why do you think identifying an epicenter location is important for our society?
Identifying an epicenter location is important for our society because it determines where the earthquake is starting. It also determines the most powerful spot of the earthquake.
How could we use this data in an emergency response situation?
We could use this data in an emergency response situation by using what we found for the each wave and place the findings on a seismograph. We could determine how powerful the earth by looking at the s wave of the earthquake.
