Prompt 2

Hi, this letter is from your cousin, Dryden.  I wanted to let you know that the family in Indonesia has constantly been on my mind since I learned of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that occurred in your region.  I am praying to god that all of you survived the horrendous destruction which was caused by the earthquake and tsunami.  I have been watching the news and have seen the enormous destruction that has occurred in Indonesia.  I can’t imagine how worried and traumatized you are right now.  I know you probably don’t have much left because of how most of your belongings got destroyed from the earthquake and tsunami, but the major thing is, if you are reading this letter, you are still alive.  Please know, I will do anything I can to help you recover from these devastating events.

Through the tragedies of this event I have felt negative and positive feelings.  I feel good about how the people in Indonesia are showing bravery and perseverance through the hardship of this horrific event.  It is amazing to see how people who have lost everything are reaching out and helping others.   I feel heartbroken about how many of the people in Indonesia have died or have been seriously injured from this event.  It is overwhelming to think about how most of the citizens of Indonesia have lost their homes.  Even though the citizens of Indonesia have been through enormous hardship they still seem to be able to look forward to the future with optimism.

Please let me know what I can do to help.  Let me know what your present situation is like.  Have you lost family members, or did everyone survive?  Are any of you injured?  Where are you living right now?  Are you receiving any help from the government?  Is there somewhere that I can send you a care package?  If so, what items are you in most need of?  No matter what the situation is, I will do anything that I can to help.

I am so sorry that you are living through this devastating tragedy.  Please remember that your family in Canada has you in their prayers.  I know that your family is strong-willed, and you will survive this major setback in your lives.

Take care,

Dryden

😊
