Walk on the Wild Side – Lab (David Andrews)

On our lab we found that there were very slight differences on the distances, but enough that it was noticeable.

The 1st direction was the positive direction, our mode of movement was crawling, at 5 seconds we gained 280 cm, in 10 seconds we gained 230 cm, in 15 seconds we gained 220 cm, in 20 seconds we gained 219 and finally at 25 seconds we gained 175 cm for a final total of 1124 cm.

The 2nd direction was the negative direction. 5 seconds was -220 cm, 10 seconds was -188 cm, 15 seconds was -210 cm and 25 seconds was -216 cm for a final total of -1058 cm.

Finally the last trial was the “Standing Still” direction, in which the entire 25 seconds was 136 cm.

The reasoning for the slight differences in the positions was not only due to the speed that each individual was moving at, but also due to the height between the different test subjects. An example of this is where Aiden, whom was much taller, was able to reach a further distance due to him being around the height of 6 feet, where as everyone else was approximately 5.5 feet tall.
