Math 10 Week 13

We continued our 7th unit this week in Relations and Functions and learned about Domain and Range and how they relate with intersects on graphs.

Domain represents (x) or the input in graphing and the Range represents (y) or the output in graphing.

By using Domain and Range, we can learn the boundries of graph lines with the dot alignments, by using notation, and brackets, we can show the boundries like such:

{ x | 3 << 7} shows that the x line will start at 3 on the left, and move right to 7 using 2  filled in circles because they are higher or equal to signs, we can also write it in a simpler way using square and round brackets, where square brackets [ ] represent < and > and round brackets ( ) represent < and >, using the same numbers, it would be [3,7]. If you come across an Infinity question using the infinity symbol, it will always be a open circle ( ) bracket because we don’t know the exact value of infinity.

I hope this notation lesson will help you in graphing lines and representing boundries with domain and range, thank you for reading!
