When I looked myself up on the internet nothing negative or bad came up. All that was there about myself was about hockey and volleyball with things from tournaments, tryouts, teams and newspaper articles.
1. How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least 2 examples
This could effect your future when you try to apply or get into college, university or a job, they will look you up on the internet and if they find stuff that isn’t appropriate or nice, they could turn you down. If you wanted to volunteer or do something similar they might not like what they see if they search your name. Meeting new people also might be difficult if they see something about you that they don’t want to associate with.
2. Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe?
Try to keep your social media accounts private. Think before you post and if its anything rude, inappropriate or anything you know you shouldn’t do, don’t do it. On the internet or social media things you thought you deleted or got rid of are always still there so if its bad don’t do it in the first place. And anything you do on the internet is always still there.
3. What information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them?
If you were trying to get into a job, college, university or anything and someone looked you up on the internet and found stuff they didn’t like from your past, a simple and little mistake that you did could possibly ruin part of your future and all the hard work that you have done. So always think before you do something because it could have a big impact on you later.
