Power Information Influency – Wave Energy/Power

Wave Energy/Power:

Benefits:
The benefits of the wave energy is that it is not expensive to operate and it is easy to maintain. The energy is free you don't need fuel and wave energy does not make any pollution. it is not for the environment. You don't need fuel to work this thing because it works by itself. The ocean wave also works because of the wind. Once the dam is built the tidal power is much cheaper. The tidal power facilities where the wave energy get the amount of power. Wave energy is renewable because it doesn't run out unlike fossils fuels is always running out and can produce lots of energy.
Challenges/Issues:
The challenges of the wave energy is some machines had been destroyed because of the power of tides and strong storms and it is noisy. Sometimes there aren't any energy of the waves. The machines in the ocean might harm the fishes. It cost lots of money when installing the machines. Making the dam is also expensive. It is bad for plants and animals.
Dear Mr. Trudeau…
My name is Chelsea Gonzales. I am a grade 9 student from Riverside Secondary School in Port Coquitlam, British Colombia. I would like to say this to you because I'd like to propose that noise pollution is very disturbing to marine lives. I believe that there's more way to make wave energy like ocean wind because the ocean wind is also strong. Sometimes the machines would be destroyed by strong storms and tides and the other parts of the machines might tear apart and that might harm animals in the ocean for example as they might eat it and that would be very bad. That's why i think we should depend on the ocean wind instead of the machines because it would be better for environment and you don't have to install the machines that will cost you lots of money and less harmful in the animals in the ocean and it will not be noisy again.

Thank you for reading my statement.
Sincerely,
Chelsea Gonzales
Student of Riverside Secondary School.

  • What is wave energy?
  • How does wave energy works?
  • What are the advantages of wave energy?
  • What are the disadvantages of wave energy?
What new or familiar digital tool did you try to use as you worked through this project?
As I work through this project the digital tools I used are google and pexels for pictures. I used google for researching about wave energy.
What was the process you used to investigate the topic?
The processes I used to investigate this topic is first, I search about wave energy/power and I thought I couldn't understand what the wave energy/ power or how does it work so research more information. As I was reading I got an idea of what question I would write and got to learn more about it. Then I research the benefits, challenges, and issues. Then I look for some pictures to put in here.
How did you verify and cite the information you found?
To verify and cite the information I found I would research my topic and write notes then go to another website to make sure that the information I found was correct. The other website i also used is open energy information.
How did the process of completing this challenge? What could you have done better?
The process of completing this challenge was quite hard because I didn't know much about wave energy and there are lots of things to do to finish this. I could have done better if I research more about wave energy. As I was finishing this I ask my mom to look at it my grammar are correct.
