What are some things you have learned and/or tasks you have accomplished this semester? What are some things you have been involved with supporting the school? (Use videos, pictures, upload materials etc. as evidence of learning in your blog)

This semester I was quite involved in general help and tech-related issue solving. I also participated in an intro video to the Wave, Maker-Space, and Library for future creators.

What aspects of your work are successful? Explain why.

I found the video went pretty well considering I re – listened to my podcast and thought of all the steps I used when creating my podcast. I wanted to then quickly highlight all the good things related to podcasting when I talked about the Yeti microphone in the promo. During my Math Pre – Calc Honours class a student was having some issues presenting his project through teams but through simple direction we found a solution quickly.

What aspects of your work is challenging? Explain why. What steps did you take to overcome these challenges / what adjustments did you need to make?

I found it pretty challenging to say the entirety of what I wanted to about the Yeti and podcasting in the short time span and to do it all correctly but after a couple takes I was able to communicate clearly the information I wanted to and give the viewers a snapshot of podcasting as a whole. When helping the student it was difficult to make sure they understood where exactly the button for the presenting screen and including sound options. Although the problem was quickly solved when I used some location clues including reference icons and patient verbal guidance to let them know how to find the keys.

Is there anything you can do improve? (with your approach to the project, or altering the project)

I would want to improve how quickly I respond, waiting a bit for the student to try to figure it out themselves and then but worried about the time of the class I stepped in pretty soon. I would also think to maybe rehearse or make my snippet about podcasting a bit more concise to articulate my message better.

As Riverside continues to immerse itself into innovation and technology, what do you think Riverside can do to provide support and help for teachers and students? (Provide specific examples)

I believe RIverside should try and maybe make teachers aware (moreso) of the Tech Team students in their class so they can rely on their help at times and escalate if that first line doesn’t work. Also having the students know their peers who can help is a major positive as well.

Do you have any feedback or suggestions, as we move forward, that could help the Tech Team meet the needs of our school and staff / be more effective? (Provide specific examples)

I think the integration of more specific roles would be beneficial. Most of the work seems a bit on the whim, deciding to do a project and those that can help do. Having more solidified roles and people in backup roles to those heading the project would maybe be a good idea and add more drive to completing the task.
