Calculus Self Reflection

In Calculus 12, I had to use components of critical thinking, specifically questioning and investigating. I had to ask my peers and teachers questions and gather information; with that, I often had to consider that most people interpreted my questions differently. They almost all had different ways of solving and explaining them. In terms of the “develop and design” piece of critical thinking, I then would have to experiment with the many different ways of solving problems (this happened a lot in units involving logs and trig). I was able to evaluate which thinking methods worked better for me personally and would help me be most efficient and accurate.

Although it may not seem as relevant to calculus, I also considered the positive personal and cultural identity core competency. This is because I often had to be patient with myself, work with my existing skills and realize that I will continue to develop new strengths and abilities as I get into higher level math courses.
