During our Bard on the Beach workshop the leaders focused more specifically on the Shakespeare play “Taming of the Shrew.” I learned a lot about this play and feel like I could confidently retell the plot of this play and it’s important points throughout the story. The two leaders of the workshop taught us about an activity called “Tabloids,” where they describe a scene of the story and everyone has to work together to physically picture this scene in a freeze frame. I think this was my favorite part of the workshop because I thought it was fun to do and, when I look back at it, I think it was the scenes we did Tabloids with that I remember the best. The only thing I found I did not like during this workshop was that we didn’t really know anything about Shakespeare beforehand, so when they asked us for answers and such, we could not offer them. I think in the future, it would be fun to do this workshop again but instead do it at the end of the unit, after we have all learned about Shakespeare and his plays so we could be able to relate a bit more with the Leader’s who were directing us.
