Lab Reflection: February

For this reflection I decided to highlight our lab, Mom’s Apple Pie Jam. This is because of the deliciousness and overall enjoyment as well as learning from this lab. I really enjoyed this lab and was without a doubt, very good; moreover, I ended up taking home 3 jars because the first one I brought home was finished in an evening.

The jam turned out very good, the amount of sugar at first was striking and somewhat concerning but after tasting it and consuming it as a sandwich or with a croissant it proved to be very good with a taste and sweetness characterized close to apple pie. The jam was fun to make, and it was interesting to use the techniques we used specifically the preservation. This was something I have not done before and it was fun to try out and turned great.

The teamwork throughout the lab was honestly not as even as planned, Julia and I took on leading rolls with specific duties to ensure the labs success, preparing things ahead of time and keeping a close eye on the product and the recipe to ensure we were on track. Throughout the lab we continuously tried to ensure that our other partners could do as much as they could by letting them take over or focus on other equally important tasks. This lab went by quite smoothly, if we did this lab again most of the changes would be to maximize on time.
